    Sheldon Myeroff founded Chagrin Valley Custom Furniture in 2013 as a way to stay active, do what he loved to do, and exercise his creativity following his retirement in 2018. Little did he know then that the basement he called his workshop would evolve into a 6000 square foot production facility with some of the country’s best designers and furniture-makers – all staying active, doing what they love to do, and exercising their creativity day in and day out. Shipping your furniture may be considered an after build...but it is never considered an after thought at CVCF. We give as much attention to detail when crating and delivering your furniture as we do to the creation of your custom project. In fact, we hired a logistics expert just to take care of the scheduling and delivery of your furniture. Ed Johnson is a former logistics expert for a large oil company in charge of shipping lanes up and down the Pacific Coast. His safety record is impeccable. Now he is in charge of shipping your project to your home or business anywhere in the continental U.S. in the most efficient and safest manner possible. And it costs much less than you may think!

When your custom furniture project is finished, we use three-quarter inch plywood and various insulating materials to craft a custom crate for your project - built to the exact dimensions necessary to prevent your piece from being jostled around and damaged during delivery. Each order outside of the Cleveland metropolitan area will be crated and shipped so that it arrives in pristine condition wherever you may live in the continental U.S.

Unless you elect to do otherwise, we coordinate all shipping. First, we will verify your information necessary to properly ship the item. That information typically includes:

  • The specific address for the delivery location.
  • The kind of facilities at the delivery location. (i.e. home or commercial building?)
  • If we are delivering to a commercial building, is there a loading dock?
  • What size truck clearance is available at that location?
  • Does the delivery vehicle need a lift gate?

In addition, we will provide you with information regarding the size and weight of the crate(s) to verify the piece can be moved and/or installed when removed from the truck.

The following is our process for crating your item and arranging shipping:

The Crating Process

For each project, our team of woodworking experts builds a custom crate to perfectly cradle your item in length, width and height. Each crate is constructed from ¾ inch thick plywood and 2×4’s, with 4×4 legs underneath so it can be moved by a forklift.

We pad the inside of each crate with foam insulation measuring ½ – ¾ inches thick to protect the project. In addition, we wrap the object in plastic pallet wrap, as well as encase it in bubble wrap.

This keeps your piece from moving about inside the crate.

The Shipping Process

If you prefer to arrange shipping on your own, we will work with you and your chosen methods to the best of our abilities. Once the final payments are made, we will contact you with verification that payment is received and arrange the shipping of your item. Typically, the crate takes 7-10 business days to arrive at your location, depending on your distance from Cleveland, OH, and your distance from our vendor's closest warehouse.

Please be advised that you will need to secure your own assistance in unloading the truck and dismantling the crate.

We only ship to the continental 48 states of the U.S.

Crating And Shipping Costs

Depending on your location and distance from Cleveland, Ohio, shipping and crating will total to an amount between $900 and $1,500. This amount will be verified and paid before the item is shipped, after the project has been completed, and after you've seen enough pictures and video to absolutely fall in love with your new piece.

We looked at a lot of River table websites and YouTube videos before contacting Chagrin Valley. They walked us through the design process and selection of the wood. Since we couldn’t be present for the wood selection we had to rely on them. We wanted the rivers in our area ( Colorado, Roaring Fork, Crystal, and Frying Pan) plus our house depicted.
