Materials Used in Our Custom Conference Tables
CVCF proudly claims to make the highest quality custom made conference tables in the USA, in large part due to the high quality materials we use. For starters, we use only solid hardwood slabs for the tabletops, not veneer or particle board or plywood. The tabletops are at least 2” thick for heavy duty, extra-strength durability, and to help prevent warping of the wood.
Our preferred woods for conference tables include walnut, black walnut, cherry, hickory, oak, maple, and more that are harvested sustainably right here in Northeast Ohio. For reclaimed wood conference tables, we use only real solid oak wood beams salvaged from centuries-old barns throughout Ohio and neighboring Pennsylvania. The finish we apply to all our custom conference tables is restaurant grade conversion varnish that is carefully sprayed on the tabletops in our oversize spray room that can accommodate any size conference table. An added bonus is that the ultra-smooth surface it creates makes the tables easier to sanitize!
Our metal table bases and legs are made of high grade steel and powder-coated for beauty and long-lasting protection at our metalworks facility in Cleveland. For our popular epoxy resin and wood river conference tables, we use the top brand epoxy powders – every color including black, white, clear, blues, greens, coppers, reds, turquoise and teal.
Best yet, our custom conference tables have “Made In the USA” written all over them (figuratively, of course). The wood species we use are grown in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and all our custom conference tables are skillfully handcrafted in our Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A., woodworking facility.

Walnut River Conference Tables
Walnut river tables are awesome. Black walnut river conference tables are very popular in the USA in 2023 because the kiln dried dark-colored, straight grained true heartwood contrasts so vividly with a blue epoxy resin river. CVCF builds live edge dining and conference tables using 2″ thick black walnut slabs. Black walnut wood is a very hard strong and straight dark brown wood that is shock resistant. Black walnut timber is popular because the fine-grained heartwood is excellent for making fine furniture. Cambia wood, (thermally modified to increase durability) is another dark wood that CVCF uses to make custom live edge conference tables. CVCF uses black walnut and cambia wood (poplar and red oak) to craft handmade live edge conference tables that can be 10′, 11′, 12′, 16′ or 32′ in length. A common width for a black walnut conference table is 4′.
The Japanese-American architect George Nakashima, winner of the Institute of Architects’ Gold Craftsmanship Medal, favored black walnut slabs and used the natural edges of the wood as part of his finished pieces of furniture to emphasize and celebrate nature’s imperfections.
